I have to go to the POTTY!!!

As in my previous posts I had discussed Micah had used the potty a couple of times. More like every "blue moon". We have tried our best since then to get Micah to go to the potty but he was just not interested. He would just throw a huge fit when ever we said anything to him about going to the potty. So we kind of just laid off the potty issue for a little while and just come to the conclusion that he would probably be in diapers whenever he started Kindergarten. Well, last week we had some family visit with us and they had a son that was just a couple of months older than Micah and he was potty trained. So here was for hoping that he would learn how to potty while they were here for a short time. Micah would go and sit on the potty but nothing would happen. But it seemed that we were making some kind of lead way with him just sitting on the potty! So yesterday morning Micah woke up and said "I have to go to the POTTY"!!!!!! He went and sat on the potty and nothing, but I decided to go ahead and put "big boy" underwear on him since he acted like he wanted to go to the potty! So guess what?!?!?! Micah went to the potty all day yesterday and only had one accident. How exciting is that! Scottie and I were beyond excited!! So last night we went out to eat and to Wal-Mart to get some more "big boy" underwear. Scottie and I didn't want to push our luck and put a diaper on him and his "big boy" underwear on top of his diaper. We told him that if he needed to go potty to just tell us even though he had on his diaper. We were at the restaurant and Micah told us that he had to go potty!! I was shocked. So Scottie took him to the potty which is difficult to a newly potty trained child. He felt like he was not tall enough to stand up to potty. So then Scottie had to sit him on the potty which is a problem also. But all and all Micah did go to the potty!!! Then off to Wal-Mart and Micah went to the potty there as well. It was a very exciting day!!! Today we were off to church and put Micah's "big boy" underwear on him and he had an accident before we got out the door. So Scottie thought it would be best if he wore pull ups instead of his underwear. So Micah had on pull ups almost all day due to church and nap time. During church I guess he was either to excited or nervous to tell his teachers that he had to go to the potty so he was wet when we got home. Since he has gotten up from his nap he has had on underwear and has had one accident and went to the potty one time!!! So we are hoping that he will continue to potty!!!

All Night LONG!!

Well, my last post I said that Micah is going through some phase where he doesn't like his bed or room. He was sleeping in a full size bed but he said that he didn't like it. He said that he wanted a "little" bed. So we borrowed a toddler size bed from some friends. This bed is very small. The mattress is the same one we used for his crib. The first night he slept in his bed he was very excited and loved it. He actually slept all night long in his new bed. But since that first night he has still continued to come to our bed during the night. Maybe he will start sleeping all night long very soon!!!

Sleep Walking!

Lately Micah has been going through some kind of phase where he does not like his room or bed. I don't know what the problem is but it is getting old very fast. He wants to sleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed. When Micah is in the bed Scottie can not sleep in the bed and always ends up in the recliner sleeping. Well, last night we put Micah to bed as usual. He still had his usual complaints but went on to his bed. After about 45 minutes had passed I went in to check on Micah and he was sound asleep looking like an angel! Isn't amazing how peaceful and sweet they look when they are asleep but when they wake up you wonder what happened to that peaceful angel. Well, since Micah was asleep I went back to the living room to watch the news and unwind. About 11:15pm last night I headed to bed and went to check in on Micah before heading to bed and Micah was NOT in his BED!!! He was no where to found in his room! So I make tracks to our bedroom and there was Micah in OUR bed! We looked at Micah and he was pretending to be asleep. Then he opened his eyes and looked at Scottie with a smirk on his face. Scottie asked him what he was doing in mommies and daddy's bed. Micah's answer was "I was sleeping walking daddy"! Can you believe that?!?!?! We couldn't help but laugh. How does a 3 year old know about sleep walking?? Well, Scottie asked Micah where did he hear about sleep walking. Micah said Eeyore. So I told my mom the story about sleep walking and told her that Micah said he saw Eeyore do it. She said yep...he sure did. She said that they were watching Winnie the Pooh the other day and Eeyore was sleep walking. So we will see how tonight goes!!

It's been a while..

since I last updated the blog. Well, we have just been a busy little family! The last time I updated Micah had used the potty a couple of times and now....nothing. Micah just refuses to go to the potty. He will even tell us when he needs a diaper change but just will not go to the potty! Oh well, I guess it will happen one day. I don't guess there is much change. Scottie and I just celebrated out 6 year anniversary last weekend! WOW...does time fly or what! I can't believe that it has been 6 years. Micah continues to just bless our lives more than we could ever imagine. Stay tuned for the next update. I will try not to let it be so long next time!

Potty Update!!!

More exciting news today! Micah went to Preschool today and when Heather picked him up she was told that Micah went to the potty. Ms. Ann said that Micah pee-pee and poop in the potty. We were very excited to learn of that news. So maybe we are getting closer to him being potty-trained. Stay tuned for more updates and pray that it happens quickly!

Well, Micah is now almost 3 years old now and not using the potty. We try our best to get him to go to the potty but he is just not interestes at all. If we ask him if he has pooped in his diaper he just says "I don't care". Some days I just ask him when will he start using the potty like a BIG boy and he just tells me "Mommy, you just don't worry"! Most mothers tell me don't even worry about until he is 3 but we are just anxious for Micah to use the potty. Well, today we I got home from work I got the news that Micah USED the potty!! How exciting. I was told he mostly went on the floor but it was the effort that counts. He said "oops I missed". This is just the beginning and only one time but I hope it continues. Keep your fingers crossed that he continues! Stay tuned for more potty updates!

Day out with Thomas the Train

This past weekend was very busy but also lots of fun as we took Micah to see Thomas the Train. Thomas the Train made an appearence at the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. Pa Zimmey(Scottie's dad) went with us to see Thomas the Train. Also at the museum was Bob the Builder. Although we missed the show with Bob the Builder Micah was able to take a picture with him. Micah was also able to meet Sir Topham Hat and take a picture with Thomas the Train. The highlight of the day was when we got to take a train ride with Thomas.

NC State Football Game!!

This past weekend we were able to get our hands on 4 free tickets to the NCSU football game. Let's back up to how I got the tickets. The doctor that I work for (Dr. Goldbach) has season tickets to NCSU football games and was unable to attend the football game this past weekend. NCSU played Louisville and lost big time. The game was soooo bad by the 4th quarter we left. The experience was great but the game was awful. I didn't realize that tailgating was such a big issue but the fans were tailgating big time. These people were bringing out big grills, generators, and of course lots of beer. So since I was able to obtain 4 tickets Scottie and I went with our best friends Linda and Bryan. Linda and Bryan are NC State fans like me; however, Scottie is not a NC State fan. Scottie is an UNC fan, YUCK!!!! Anyways, the football game was certainly interesting with Scottie there because he was not pulling for NCSU to win. He was cheering for Louisville the entire game while we were surrounded by NCSU fans. I was embrassed and scared that we were going to have things thrown at us because Scottie was pulling for the other team. Well I am glad to say that we survied the game without any of the fans saying anything to us or throwing things at us. Although we did get evil eyes looking at us. But Scottie did get the comments and things thrown at him by me. Well, that was our experience at the NCSU game. If I am lucky enough to get more tickets to the football game this season Scottie will not be going with me to the game. He will get to be the babysitter.

Hello Everyone!

I will give a quick update to let you know what has been going on. It has been a very busy summer. Micah has started back to pre-school at Louisburg United Methodist Church. He loves school. When he is not in school he is at his Pat-Pat's(my mom)house. Scottie continues work at ACR supply in Raleigh, NC. I started a new job in July with Dr. Goldbach at Urology Care and I am loving it.
